Is there a Tamagotchi app for Apple Watch? Not from Bandai anymore. Its Tamagotchi Classic came to the watch in 2015 and has since left the App Store, and today's Tamagotchi apps, My Tamagotchi Forever and Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom, have no Apple Watch version.
What you can get is a Tamagotchi-style pet that lives on the watch: you check on it through the day, keep it fed and watch it grow. Most of the 8 below feed the pet with your steps instead of button presses. The table shows what each costs, then each app has a short write-up.

The 8 Tamagotchi-style apps
1. Belly: Cute Virtual Watch Pet
Our app. A pixel cat made for the watch: your daily steps earn hearts that keep it happy and healthy, and you play with it using toys like the Plush Mouse and Feather Wand. Seven mini-games (Catch the Treats, Whack-a-Mouse, Cloud Climb and more) have weekly leaderboards, and you can dress the cat in outfits like the Santa Suit or the Purrito. Friends can visit each other's pets and Ring to buzz a friend's watch.
Why it feels like a Tamagotchi: Pixel art, a pet you check on through the day, and a complication that keeps it on your watch face.
2. Nomi
Fill a heart-ring with steps and exercise, then tap it to feed your Nomi before its three hearts run out. Survive long enough and it evolves. Note: no longer actively maintained, so it may have compatibility issues with newer Apple Watch models.
Why it feels like a Tamagotchi: The closest to the original's keep-it-alive pressure, with evolution stages.
3. WatchieBesti: Cute Watch Pet
A pixel pet on the watch and iPhone. Every egg hatches into one of 13 species across Animals, Plants and Machines, and its eight moods follow how active you are. You feed it with Bursts earned from moving, and dress it in hats and wands.
Why it feels like a Tamagotchi: Hatching from an egg, growth stages and a pet that gets sleepy when you sit still.
4. Pixel Paws - Virtual Pet Toy
A retro 8-bit pet simulator for the watch. Feeding, walking and playing each run on a cooldown timer through the day, and every action earns coins for new pets, backgrounds and weather scenes. Designed with kids aged 4 to 12 in mind, and it plays offline.
Why it feels like a Tamagotchi: The look and button-press rhythm of a 90s egg, without punishment if you miss a check-in.
5. poki pet - virtual watch pet
Puppies, dogs and cats in pixel art. Feed and play with them, and walk to earn hearts: the more steps, the happier the pet. Works on Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad.
Why it feels like a Tamagotchi: Classic 8-bit pets with simple care.
6. Watch Pet: Widget & Watch Pets
Adopt pets, keep their food, water and play meters up, and raise your trainer level to unlock more pets in the shop. The pet sits in a widget, and it plays without Wi-Fi. The most-rated app on this list, with over 4,000 ratings.
Why it feels like a Tamagotchi: Status meters to keep topped up, like the hunger and happiness hearts of the original.
7. Wokamon: pedometer tamagotchi
Every step becomes energy you use to feed, grow and collect Wokamons and explore worlds like the candy desert and icy realm. Runs on iPhone and Apple Watch with Apple Health.
Why it feels like a Tamagotchi: Growing creatures through stages, with collecting on top.
8. Habbie: Habit Tracker & Pet
A 90s-style pet tied to your habits. Hit your goal and Habbie leaves a gift; miss it and it leaves a mess to clean up. Tracks custom habits and Apple Health data like steps and exercise minutes. Last updated September 2025.
Why it feels like a Tamagotchi: Care or consequences, applied to real habits instead of a hungry blob.
How to choose
- You want the original's pressure: Nomi. Its hearts run out if you stop moving.
- You want the 90s look: Pixel Paws or poki pet, both 8-bit.
- You want a reason to walk: Belly, WatchieBesti, poki pet or Wokamon, which all turn steps into food.
- You want to pay once and be done: Nomi ($1.99) or Pixel Paws ($3.99).
- You want to play with friends: Belly, where friends visit each other's pets.
How we checked
Every app here has an Apple Watch app on the US App Store. We read each listing on October 28, 2026 for the price, the in-app purchases and any subscription. We left out Bandai's own Tamagotchi apps, which have no watch app, and Watchi, an early watch pet last updated in 2017. Newer watch pets such as Tamawatchi and Hatchi had too few ratings to judge yet.
